Guided Day Fishing on the Shallows
A full day on the water with a guide, starting before sunrise with a boat transfer to the first bar and finishing when the evening rise fades. The day moves between wading swims, drifting channels and deeper pools according to conditions, targeting whichever species are active. Rods, tackle, bait, waders, permits, drinks and a hot lunch are included, along with photographs of anything worth remembering. Beginners receive full instruction in casting, playing and releasing fish, while experienced anglers can simply be shown the water and left to work it at their own pace.
Overnight and Multi-Day Bar Camps
Our core offering: two to seven nights camped directly on a sand or gravel bar, fishing at first and last light with long, unhurried afternoons in between. Camps are pitched and struck by our crew, meals are cooked on site, and a boat stays with the group for moves along the reach. Each night ends around the fire, and each morning starts with coffee before the mist lifts. Trips can be arranged for solo anglers joining a small mixed group, for pairs, or for a private party taking the whole camp and the whole stretch.
Family Camps and First-Time Anglers
Gentle programmes designed for families and complete beginners, based on the shallowest, safest bars with easy wading and plenty to do off the water. Children learn casting on grass before touching a rod on the river, and the day includes swimming, fire-building, tracking, simple cooking and an evening of stories rather than a fixed fishing schedule. Life jackets are provided for every size, at least two guides accompany each family group, and camp routines are relaxed enough for afternoon naps. Rods are short, targets are small and success is measured in enthusiasm rather than weight.
Fly-Fishing Clinics and Casting Courses
Two- and three-day clinics run on open bars with plenty of back-cast room, covering casting mechanics, line control, reading shallow water, entomology, fly selection, knots and playing fish in current. Class sizes stay at four so that every cast can be watched and corrected, and video review is available in the evenings. Loan outfits are provided in several weights, and participants finish with a written assessment plus recommendations for tackle suited to their own waters. Advanced sessions focus on distance, wind, sight-fishing on clear shallows and presenting to visibly feeding fish.
Boat Transfers, Hire and Logistics
For self-sufficient anglers we handle the difficult parts: transfer to remote bars, delivery and collection of gear, water supply, fuel, ice, permits and an emergency contact plan. Shallow-draft boats can be hired with or without a driver, and we supply charts marking safe channels, exposed shoals and legal boundaries. Camping equipment is available separately, including tents, platforms, cooking kits and insulated boxes. Pick-up times are confirmed by radio each evening, and a crew member remains reachable throughout so that plans can change with the weather rather than against it.
Conservation Weeks and River Work
Between fishing seasons we run open weeks when volunteers join habitat work along the same reaches: clearing debris from spawning gravels, repairing eroded banks with brush and stone, removing invasive plants, marking sensitive bays and helping fisheries staff with counts. Accommodation, meals, tools and training are provided, and participants fish in the evenings once the day's work is finished. Results are published in an annual report shared with guests and local authorities, and a fixed share of every commercial booking funds the materials, boat fuel and monitoring equipment these weeks require.
